Often these days when I get wedding invitations for friends (and their children), I see on their registry all sorts of fancy gadgets and tools. I haven’t seen a request for an eggbeater in years. Eggbeaters (like the 1930s one shown here) can beat eggs but can also whip up a cake batter, all without having to plug in and then lift weights afterwards because you don’t get enough exercise anymore. Please, someone put eggbeaters on your wedding registry this year.

Howdy, Homesteader, I was reading back through your blog and love it. We got rid of our electric mixer but I’ve had a hard time finding a good eggbeater! I haven’t found one that’s especially sturdy and easy to turn rapidly. This weekend I’m thinking of making a cake for my kiddos and want to whip up a light frosting . . . might have to borrow my mom’s mixer to do it right.
Welcome, Joyce, and thanks for the kind words!
I used to see egg beaters in stores every once in a while but can’t remember the last time I saw one. My mother has one more recent than mine that is stainless steel and turns much better, with more blades to rotate. I found several online–but then we can’t take it for a spin to see how easily it rotates.
Other readers, if you recently bought egg beaters, where did you get them? Are the mechanics smooth?
